Codex Historicus
What are Codex Historicus Documents?
The historical codices (Codex Historicus) were used by Roman Catholic clergy to record significant events happening at various sites where they worked alongside Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Nations. Some of these documents are more narrative-like in their style, while others resemble daily logs, or even journal entries. Languages found in the codices hosted on the DADproject vary, from French, to English, to Latin. The stylistic choice and content of the codices were made by their authors, who were Roman Catholic priests.
