Comments: note: Elzear GOULET was a member ofthe court that sentenced Thomas Scott to death in Red River in March of 1870. On September 13th, 1870, he was accosted by a number of volunteers ofthe 1° Ontario Rifles in a hotel in Winnipeg, and in attempting to flee, he ran to the Red River and attempted to swim across to the safety of St. Bonifece. His pursuers stoned him, causing him to drown. The written text on the back ofthe photograph reads "To dear uncle Albert whose kindness has not been forgotten by his loving niece Therese. "Portrait" of grandfather Goulet unique of its kind" The uncle Albert refered to would be Albert GOULET, born circa 14 Aug 1834. The parents of Therese are not known.
